Key Mothers Day Dates for 2022

There are key dates in the calendar to prepare for as a florist. In the UK, this allows you time to prepare your own offerings for your customers, your workshop & stock, and your staff.

You will also need to consider days globally as this can have a huge impact on the pricing of flowers at the flower markets.

International Women's Day (8th March)

Starting with IWD on 8th March , it is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

Over the years, women and men alike have continued to give the gift of flowers to show their appreciation for the strong women in their lives. And although the mimosa flower has a special significance, it's not the only flower given.

Mother’s Day, or Mothering Sunday as it was originally known, falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent, three weeks before Easter.

Mothering Sunday became established as a holiday for servants who were given leave from their employers to visit their mothers. They would gather fresh flowers on their journey home and give them as a gift. It is because of this that flowers are the most popular Mothering Sunday gift.
